Lost Access to Your Facebook Page? Here's What to Do Next

We recently started working with a new client and discovered during onboarding that their Facebook Business Page had been hacked—over a year ago! Fortunately, we were able to regain access by following these steps.

If this happens to you, here’s what you need to gather before reaching out to Facebook Support:

  • A copy of a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a current driver’s license or passport.

  • A copy of a business license or a utility bill for the business.

  • The Page ID, which can be found by visiting the Facebook Page -> About -> Page Transparency.

  • A signed statement to provide to Facebook, which must include the following details:

    • Your relationship to the Page, including your authority to request changes to Page management.

    • The name of the current Page admin(s) and their relationship to the Page, if known.

    • An explanation of your request, including whether there has been a termination of employment or business relationship with the current admin(s), if applicable.

    • If the Page admin is unaware of who the Business Manager admin is, they must declare this and provide a reason why.

    • The name of the Business Manager account connected to the Page and the Facebook account and/or email associated with the Page you wish to remove.

    • A declaration stating that the provided information is true and accurate (e.g., "I certify that the information provided is true and accurate.") Your statement must include similar language.

Additionally, you will need to work with a Facebook partner that has access to support, and there is no guarantee you will be able to regain access to your Facebook profile. A significant amount of money is spent building social media accounts, so it's crucial to take preventive measures.

Make sure you have two-factor authentication turned on, and ensure that your Facebook and Instagram accounts are connected through the Business Portfolio to enhance security and control.
