Instagram Story Drafts

Instagram Stories can be a great tool for businesses trying to promote services and products in a more informal way than your typical IG Feed post. However, for many businesses, Stories can quickly become complicated when trying to storyboard content or jumping through the hoops of workflow approvals after spending a good chunk of time putting together an interactive Story (complete with GIFs, music, links, etc.) that cannot be saved. That is until recently!

Instagram released a draft function for Stories that allows you to save a Story draft for up to 7 days! To access this function, create your Story as usual, with all the bells and whistles, and then hit the “X” in the upper left which will prompt a pop-up asking you if you would like to discard your work or save it as a draft. After saving your work as a draft, when you are ready to return to your work, open up the app as you usually would to make a new Story, click the gallery icon at the bottom left corner, and select the first image labeled ‘Drafts” to access all your Story drafts. You can then save your updated work again as a draft or publish it. Simple as that!
